For those of you that have driven across the breadth of this great nation you know the amount of driving involved. I left the state of South Carolina on a beautiful June morning destined for the Pacific Ocean with a number of scheduled stops for the next five days. When I arrived in Santa Rosa, CA some five days and 3,000 miles later I recognized the achievement.
That number “3,000” is pretty special to my family and I as we started out on a new course, new job, new home, new surroundings, hell – even a new pet. Months after my arrival my wife and our youngest headed out on the same adventure with each other – a true mother & daughter adventure. I waited on the Washington St Bridge looking for their car as they came off Highway 101 and after two great big hugs we were all ready to set down to dinner.
Welcome to Petaluma!
I took a look at the statistics counter on this page earlier this morning and we’ve eclipsed 3,000 hits. So first off – congratulations to all of you for your continued reading, your extended support and all the comforts you’ve provided my wife by accessing this blog each and every day. If we equate each “hit” to a “mile” we can say we’ve all come across this great country of ours together and look at what we’ve learned with each other.
In no particular order …
Ductal carcinoma, Plastic Surgery, Bi-lateral mastectomy, Drains a.k.a. “Utters”, Pain medication, Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins, Visitors, Love, Poetry, Northern California weather, Wine, LuLu, Networking, Texting, Family, Friends, The Weekend, Agendas, … and so on.
We (Bonnie’s Boosters – 82 total) may not have been in the same vehicle during the ride, but we’ve certainly been “with” each other. Although the ride continues and the “hits” add up you can rest assured there’ll be news about what we’re up against, where we’re heading all with the same objective: Beating Cancer and becoming a survivor.
At $4.17 a gallon (that’s right) – I’d rather we all sit in the comfort of our own homes than having to fill the tank to make this trip and I really do appreciate the time you’ve taken in supporting the woman I recognize as my lifelong friend, the mother of our two girls and my bride.
